Welcome to MEQ

Welcome to MEQ London

Masjid-E-Quba, originally known as Anjuman Raza-E-Mustafa, was established in 1992 through the efforts of our respected elders. As one of the first few Mosques in the area, the main purpose at the time was to provide a place of worship for the local Muslim population. As the years passed by, it was essential that the Mosque responded to the growing needs of the emerging second generation. Thus, the traditional Madrasah system was introduced for children and young adults.

In 2008, the Mosque adopted the use of its current name, Masjid-E-Quba. The decision was motivated by the link to the original Masjid-E-Quba in the holy city of Madinah; the oldest Masjid in the world, dating back to the life of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be upon Him). In fact, the very foundations of the blessed Masjid were laid down by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be upon Him), along with his honourable companions (May Allah be pleased with them all).

Indeed, the spiritual connection to the sacred Masjid was such that when the idea was first proposed, all those concerned were in unanimous agreement to the name change. That being said, the Masjid is still fondly known in some quarters by its original name. To all intents and purposes, however, the official name of the organisation is Masjid-E-Quba.

Aims and Objectives:

  • To provide religious services for the local Muslim population, including but not limited to: Congregational prayers, Madrasah classes for students, Nikah (Marriage) Service and more
  •  To provide a platform for locals to communicate and engage with one another
  •  To promote interfaith dialogue and facilitate mutual understanding
  •  To produce a one stop shop for the Muslim and wider community to be proud of
  •  To contribute to the social, cultural and religious enhancement of the wider community

Vision:

We aim to become a centre of excellence and return the Masjid to its original purpose; that is, to create a community hub in which both spiritual and secular sciences are discussed, in order to deal with the challenges of the day.

Testimonials

The progress made by Masjid-E-Quba over the past five years has been truly remarkable. Having lived in London for a decade, I have personally witnessed its growth, and I often tell my family that there is no other Ahlus Sunnah mosque quite like MEQ.

The dedication of the team ensures continuous progress, and I sincerely pray for their success. May Allah reward their efforts. I am always happy to offer my support in any way. The mosque is in excellent hands, and I look forward to its continued growth. JazakAllah for all that you do.

MEQ has provided my children with invaluable learning opportunities and a sense of belonging. As a family, we actively engage in the interactive quizzes, fundraisers, and religious programs.

The mosque goes beyond religious services, offering weekend arts and crafts workshops for young children, games and sports clubs, community litter-picking initiatives, and a newly launched library. MEQ continues to serve and support the local community, welcoming individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and faiths.

Masjid-E-Quba is one of the most active and welcoming mosques in East London. The committee consistently supports the community through weekly gatherings, dhikr, educational sessions, and monthly events. Renowned scholars are regularly invited, and structured classes are held frequently. The mosque fosters a strong sense of community, led by a warm and approachable Imam. It truly stands out as a pillar of faith and unity in the area.
