Madrasah (Islamic Institute of Education)
It is an undeniable fact that we live in a society where there is a dire lack of Islamic knowledge. This is startling considering the age we live in; where we have masses of information at our disposal. Yet at the same time it seems it is also having the least effect. Even when we are made aware of something, we turn a blind eye to it. There is a common mindset that ‘ignorance is bliss’; this could not be more wrong!
In a famous narration, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be upon Him) reported: ‘Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim’. No doubt, knowledge brings one closer to Allah (The Most High) and crucially reminds an individual of their ultimate purpose in this ephemeral world.
With this in mind, Masjid-E-Quba is proud to offer Madrasah classes for children and young adults. The traditional system of Islamic education ensures that every child has the understanding of at least the fundamental tenets of faith and jurisprudence; which allows one to fulfil basic and obligatory acts of worship. Indeed, it is the right of a child that they are educated on essential matters of faith and are raised with teachings of moral behaviour. Therefore, every parent has a responsibility to ensure that they find an appropriate Madrasah for their child to attend.
One of our core aims is to commit to the development of each individual. This entails creating an environment for the student which is conducive to their learning. Taking this into account, we have devised a system whereby each student is given the opportunity to maximise their potential.
Madrasah System
Classes structured according to size, age and individual student progression – This allows teachers to spend more time per child and helps students to progress together throughout their time in Madrasah. Moreover, this allows us to make use of dedicated teachers to assist students who require additional support. Likewise, students who excel can be allocated additional material to advance their own learning. In this way, we are able to tailor the education to suit the needs of each individual student and facilitate a personal and dedicated pathway of learning.
Employment of English-speaking teachers – To aid effective communication between teacher and student. Not only does this help make learning more simple, it also strengthens the relationship between teacher and student. Overall, this encourages a willingness to learn and creates an all-round positive experience.
Introduction of a new versatile yet robust syllabus – A unique blend of necessary religious knowledge, coupled with a focus on instilling virtuous conduct. We believe this is more relevant for the students and is appropriate for the contemporary age.

It is not possible to fully appreciate the crucial function that a Madrasah fulfils in sowing the seeds of faith which will later flourish. We firmly believe this new system of learning, nurturing and rewarding will result in the positive development of our students. Not only will it improve their wellbeing, it will also enable them to become well-rounded individuals and ultimately benefit the community as a whole.
